The Forestry Commission led by the Chief Executive, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, together with the Deputy Minister in charge of Forestry at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Benito Owusu Bio, the Deputy CE of Forestry Commission, Mr. John M. Allotey, some Board members, Directors and management staff visited selected Youth In Afforestation (YIA) planting sites in the Greater Accra Region. The visit was to ascertain progress made under the programme, its challenges and the way forward.

The team visited Tomefa, Joma and Agbozome which are communities around the Densu River. The team also went to the Achimota Forest to experience for themselves, progress made in the planting and nurturing of the trees since the programme was launched in 2018.

The Deputy Minister expressed his delight with the youth participating in the programme and promised the Chief Executive he will ensure prompt payment of beneficiaries allowances to urge them to continue the breathtaking programme.   

The Chief Executive of FC also commended the beneficiaries under the Programme for the good work they have done for the country.
